From Pension Commissioner Ken Buzzell:

On page 15 of the Winter Edition of the Quarterly Dispatch, an article written by Pension Commissioner Ken Buzzell wrote that the Medicare Trustees had estimated that the Medicare Part B Premium for 2022 would increase to $158.50 per month. When Commissioner Buzzell’s article was written, this was the number that experts believed would be adopted by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). However, on November 12, 2021, the CMS announced that the Medicare Part B Premium for 2022 would actually be $170.10, an increase of $21.60 per month over the 2021 rate of $148.50. Commissioner Buzzell wishes to apologize for any confusion the disparity in these numbers might have caused, and he wanted to make sure that our retirees were made aware of the correct monthly cost for the Medicare Part B Premium.
