The Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Retired Fire & Police Association, LARFPA, is disturbed by the reports of a data breach or leak of confidential information in the California DOJ CCW database.

Our understanding is that this leak does not affect the data retired members submit, via Live Scan, when renewing our department-issued identification cards with a CCW endorsement. Additionally, it is our understanding that the information submitted when applying for a “guard card” or “permit for exposed firearm” through the Department of Consumer Affairs is held in a separate database.

Nonetheless, as with any large-scale breach or leak, it is advisable that members pay close attention to their credit accounts and be mindful of an increase in fake e-mail scams.

As always, do not hesitate to reach out if you have additional concerns or information. We can be reached at info@larfpa.org.
