From LARFPA Director Beverly Lewis:
I hope your new year is off to a safe and great start. Most of us look for the new year to bring new opportunities and experiences. In our continued effort to provide meaningful benefits and services to our members, the Los Angeles Retired Fire and Police Association (LARFPA) Board of Directors is proud to announce the creation of the LARFPA Scholarship Program.
The LARFPA Board is committed to supporting the dependents of our members who are pursuing post-secondary education. The Board understands that paying for college can create a financial burden for many families and possibly prevent some talented students from pursuing their educational goals.
The 2023 LARFPA scholarship will award four $5000 scholarships to deserving students. To be eligible to receive a LARFPA scholarship, the student must be a high school senior, achieve at least a 2.5 GPA, and have a parent or legal guardian who is a dues-paying member of the Los Angeles Retired Fire and Police Association. These scholarships will recognize students that have distinguished themselves by demonstrating outstanding leadership, citizenship, and service to their communities.
We are exhilarated to be a small part of the future of your dependents. I encourage you to check our website as the scholarship enrollment will be open by the end of January. The 2023 LARFPA Scholarship application deadline is May 15, 2023. The winners will be announced and recognized in June at our membership meeting.
Until then, my wish for you is a year filled with peace and overwhelming joy. Happy New Year!!
