On September 25, 2025, members of the LARFPA Board of Directors attended the 2025 Above & Beyond Awards at the Bonaventure Hotel. We were honored to be joined by Retired Officer John Porras and active Officer James Tuck. Porras and Tuck received Medal of Valor in 2007. While working Hollenbeck Area, Porras and Tuck engaged in harrowing and brutal gun battle in 2006. Tuck was shot three times. Porras was able to return fire and render aid to Tuck. Porras retired in 2018, and Tuck is still working as a Training Officer at Hollenbeck Area.
